So, we've created this page to help you. We've tried to compile the best-of-the-best training resources for you to work with. The training tutorials by Microsoft are great ways to teach yourself various features of Access. The tutorials typically take between 20-45 minutes to complete, and are very comprehensive. Each tutorial typically consists of lessons, practice exercises, assessment tests and reference material. Best of all, they're free!

What is Acrobat Professional? Acrobat Professional is a software that allows you to create PDF (Portable Document Format) files. You can create documents & forms by scratch, or convert existing documents like Excel and Word files into a PDF file. Then, your files can be easily shared with anyone that has PDF viewing software, such as Acrobat Reader.
What resources do you recommend? This link will take you to the Adobe Acrobat Support Center. Here you can watch video tutorials, see top issues for troubleshooting and get help using Acrobat.
Layers Magazine Acrobat Tutorials This site has a great collection of Tutorials for Acrobat and other Adobe products. It's geared a little more on the advanced side, but still very approachable. Most of the tutorials are videos, although they have some great articles too!
Adobe Acrobat 9 How-Tos: 125 Essential Techniques This book by Donna L. Baker is published by Adobe Press and contains a wealth of information. The material covered in this book is well-written and easy-to-follow. It covers everything from very basic operation of Acrobat to advanced techniques.
What is Audacity? Audacity is a free audio editor. You can use Audacity to record live audio, convert tapes and records into digital recordings or CD's, cut/copy/splice sounds together, and even change the speed or pitch of a recording. It is an extremely powerful audio editor with tons of features, and a fairly easy-to-use interface. What resources do you recommend?

What is a document camera? A document camera is basically an overhead projector on steroids! Using digital technology this document camera gives you the ability to project any 2D or even small 3D objects for the entire classroom or audience to view. It is an invaluable tool for any presenter! There are many great ways to use this device! Use it to show pages, maps or diagrams from a book to the whole class without getting photocopies. Project and record science experiments while you're demonstrating them! Or, if you're an iPad user... we've found that this is currently one of the most reliable methods of projecting your iPad's screen!
What document cameras are available on campus? We currently have three models of document cameras on campus, all manufactured by AVerMedia. Our newest model is the AverVision M50. We also have AVerVision 355AF and AVerVision CP130 document cameras. All are available for checkout through Academic Technology Support, and are also permanent fixtures in some of the newly renovated classrooms.

What is Blogger? Blogger is a free blogging service provided by Google. Blogs are basically online journals that the author(s) updates regularly with text, images, videos and other content. Many times, blogs allow for readers to make their own comments on posts. What resources do you recommend? An excellent website full of tutorials, templates, tips and tricks! This site is definitely worth exploring! This is the official Google blog about Blogger! Google uses this blog to announce new features and share useful information. This book by Susan Gunelius is a great introductory book to Blogger. It has easy to read instructions, useful pictures and good tips/tricks. An excellent resource if you're a visual learner! What is Dreamweaver? Dreamweaver is a web design program. You can use it's WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) interface to easily create and maintain web pages.

What is Gmail? Gmail is a free web-based email platform by Google. Using the resources that only an internet giant like Google could provide, email can become fun again! With extremely advanced SPAM filtering technology, you don't waste your time deleting massive amounts of unwanted emails. Gmail has mobile access available so you can check your mail with portable devices like iPod/iPhones, PDA's and Smartphones. Plus, with huge storage capacity (over 7GB per account!) you don't need to worry about constantly deleting messages to clear your quota. It is an intuitive, easy and efficient way to communicate via email.

This reference has a list of all the gmail keyboard shortcut combinations you can use. Gmail Notifier is a desktop application by Google that you can install on your own computer. It will alert you when you receive new messages, calendar events, and can make Gmail your default email client. It currently will work for Windows XP, and 2000 computers, as well as any Apple OSX version 10.4 or higher. Since Gmail Notifier won't work with newer versions of Windows computers, such as Vista and Windows 7... we found you an alternative! This application from Google allows you to install Microsoft Windows desktop access points to Google Docs, Calendar and Gmail that are pre-configured to work with accounts on the SBC domain. These apps launch in a streamlined Google Chrome browser window. This program also allows you to set Gmail as their default email program.
What is Google Calendar? Google Calendar is an online calendar application. It's an extremely powerful system, yet very intuitive to operate. One of the most useful aspects is the ability to share and collaborate on calendars with other users. It is also nice to be able to access your calendar from any computer in the world with an Internet connection... plus you can configure your Mobile Devices to access it too!

By using the forms feature, you can easily create and manage surveys and other forms for gathering information through your website.

It is a skill that utilizes many of the same principles of traditional print design, as well as standards specific to the web. We're currently conducting a pilot program on campus with iPad's... so you'll probably see lots of great resources show up here throughout the year!

How to view multiple Google Calendars This short video tutorial will show you how to configure your iPad, iPhone or iPod touch to view multiple Google Calendars through the Calendar App. This is a user group dedicated to discussing all things iPad! Anyone at Sweet Briar College is welcome to join and post to this group. The above link will take you directly to the web interface, where you can sign in with your SBC username and password. Here you can view all the past discussions, as well as post new topics. Once you sign up... you'll also have the option to receive your updates through email. This is a great way to stay connected with how your peers are using the iPad on campus! This section of Apple's website is dedicated to giving you video tours of various aspects of the iPad. It's a bit sales-pitch oriented... but you can still pick up some useful information when you watch the clips. This is a discussion forum and resource site dedicated to iPad usage in education. It's a good place to connect with iPad users from other institutions to share experiences and seek help.

Here you can learn about new features, get support, discuss strategies with other members of the community and suggest future developments. Excellent and growing site full of video tutorials on how to complete various tasks in Moodle. Keep in mind that Moodle is extremely customizable, so some things may look a little different. However, the general concepts are mostly the same.

It is still packed with many of the image editing capabilities, just with fewer and simpler options. With Photoshop Elements, you should be able to organize, enhance and manipulate just about any digital image.

This book would be of great help to any beginner or intermediate user of Photoshop Elements. Picasa Web Albums / Picnik Photo Editing What is Picasa Web Albums / Picnik Photo Editing? Picasa Web Albums is a photo sharing web site by Google, that you can access for free through your SBC account! This service makes it easy for you to store, organize and share pictures and videos with others! You can even edit your pictures by using Google's Picnik photo editing software! What resources do you recommend? This web site is the official help documentation from Google for Picasa Web Albums. With detailed instructions on how to operate Picasa Web Albums, this site is an ideal location for anyone needing a little extra help with Picasa. Picnik - Web 2.0 Tools - New Possibilities in Teaching & Learning This web site by Purdue University has a phenomenal collection of material, including references. It's geared toward the educational environment, so there are some excellent real world examples and lesson plans available. This site walks you through the various tools availalble for Picnik photo editing. The documentation is step-by-step and includes great examples of real-world scenarios you might encounter while editing photos.

What is SMART Notebook? The SMART Notebook software can be used to maximize the capabilities of the SMART tech hardware products, such as a SMARTBoard and SMART podiums. This software provides a wide variety of tools that give you interactive capabilities with your projected display. You can operate your screen by touch, draw objects on top of a blank screen or other applications, and even record all your actions in a video file. These tools are certainly useful in the classroom for instruction, but are also beneficial for administrative departments and students giving presentations.

Google's free online language translation service instantly translates text and web pages.
