Reunion 2012 is just around the corner and the Sweet Briar community is happily anticipating your return “home.” This year, Reunion boasts a weekend of exciting activities hosted in our state of the art Fitness and Athletic Center and throughout the campus! When you arrive on Friday, feel free to visit the Open Houses and participate in our Social Media Instruction class taught in Benedict 101, the pilot classroom for modern learning. The Friends of Art invite you to a Welcome Reception in the Pannell Art Gallery, before you go to dinner with your classmates. Saturday will be packed with wellness activities, including NIA with President Jo Ellen Parker, Yoga, and Zumba. If you prefer the outdoors, an early Saturday morning bird walk with Mike Hayslett, our naturalist in residence, would fit the bill. Want to sleep in, but still want to see a part of our beautiful 3200 acre campus? Linda Fink, Duberg Professor of Ecology, will guide a nature walk throughout the hills and trails of Sweet Briar. Between hayrides, pool parties, and even a fly-fishing and casting clinic with our own Joe Malloy from the library, there are plenty of activities the entire family can enjoy. What better way to spend a day than in Sweet Briar’s gorgeous back yard? Reunion weekend not only offers recreation, but educational opportunities as well. Join Dr. Tracy Hamilton, associate professor of Art History, as she walks you through the architectural history and beauty of Sweet Briar College. If walking and the great outdoors are simply not for you, you can sit in air-conditioned comfort and join Patricia Beach Thompson `52 for her one-woman show and learn much from the characters she brings to life. Dean Amy Jessen-Marshall looks forward to discussing the College curriculum with you while President Parker is eager to update you on the College. On Saturday evening, be sure to dust off your dancing shoes and attend the Cocktail Dinner and Dance with live music provided by the Great Expectations Band. This special event is always a favorite part of the festivities. Just imagine, an entire weekend with your classmates and a chance to reminisce with them at this very special occasion! Remember to register online early, or if you prefer, download the registration form and mail it to the Alumnae House (P. O. Box 1055, Sweet Briar, VA, 24595) no later than May 1. Watch for website updates in order to coordinate your plans with the finalized events. Go ahead and register today – we look forward to seeing you!
