Volunteer

There are many opportunities to become involved in the work of the Sweet Briar College Alumnae Association — from recruiting new students or joining local alumnae clubs to working with the annual fund, sharing your expertise, serving on a board or giving to the college.

Recruit New Students
As an Admissions Volunteer you can help in your area by attending a college fair or contacting a prospective Sweet Briar student by email or telephone.

Contact the Admissions Office if you would like to become an Admissions Volunteer.

Get Involved with Your Local Alumnae Club
Attend alumnae events in your area and stay in touch with Sweet Briar. Meet women of all ages who share the common bond of the Sweet Briar experience. Get connected in a new town.

Contact the Alumnae Office if you are interested in learning more about local alumnae clubs, becoming a club representative, or starting a club in your area.

Volunteer with the Annual Fund
More than 200 alumnae, parents and friends of the College volunteer their time and strengths to continue the excellence that is Sweet Briar. The Annual Fund could not succeed without them and their continued commitment to the College.

You can volunteer, too! It is fun and rewarding, and you will make a difference. Reconnect with classmates, meet fellow parents, network with other alumnae in your area, share your Sweet Briar experience with old friends and new, spread the energy and vitality which characterize the College today — these are the charges of Annual Fund volunteers. Join in the fun and help to continue the Sweet Briar traditions of a lifetime.

To become an Annual Fund volunteer, simply contact us. Explore the menu to the left to see what the Annual Fund programs are all about.

Attend Homecoming and Families Weekend
Homecoming Weekend offers an action-packed schedule of events and activities designed to promote learning and interaction with fellow alumnae, members of the Alumnae Association Board, faculty, parents and the student body.

Homecoming offers academic symposia, training sessions specifically geared toward alumnae volunteers, College updates, and athletic events including the Athletics Hall of Fame induction ceremony. Participating in Homecoming is not only a lot of fun, it is also one of the best ways to keep in touch with the Sweet Briar of today.

Share your Expertise
Each year alumnae return to Sweet Briar to meet with and offer advice to current students interested in their chosen fields. They work with Career Services by serving on panels, posting internships and jobs, reviewing resumes and networking.

Serve on the Alumnae Board
The Alumnae Association encourages all alumnae to submit names of alumnae nominees for the Alumnae Board; self-nominations are welcome.

Wear the Colors
Let the world know where you went to College. Wear an SBC sweatshirt. Put a window sticker on your car. Fly a flag on your front door. Get logo merchandise from the Sweet Briar Book Shop.

Give to Sweet Briar
Your gift to the College helps to fund academic initiatives, scholarships for outstanding students, grants for outstanding faculty, historic renovations, physical improvements and the day-to-day operations necessary to keep Sweet Briar among the top choices in education today and tomorrow. Give now.
