The Sweet Briar College Alumnae Association, under the leadership of its own elected Alumnae Board and with the support of the alumnae office, develops, organizes and implements programs that encourage volunteer service in support of Sweet Briar College.

The Alumnae Association offices are in the Boxwood Alumnae House. After arriving on campus, follow the main drive through the traffic circle. Continue past the Dorothy J. Sales Building (formerly the Book Shop) and the development building on the right. The Boxwood Alumnae House is at the corner of Sweet Briar Drive and Elijah Road.

The Boxwood Alumnae House was built on Elijah Road in 1920 as an inn for guests staying on campus. In the 1960s the building was converted into a small dormitory to accommodate increased enrollment at the College. Boxwood House was renovated again in 1993, this time through the kind generosity of an anonymous alumna to be the headquarters of the Alumnae Association.

The Alumnae Association of Sweet Briar College has created this plaque in celebration of the College's Centennial Year of 2001, and in recognition and honor of the Association's home and its loyal membership.
