Special Topics in Philosophy

A study of some significant topic in philosophy (e.g., philosophy of the mind, philosophy and film). Topic for Fall 2013: "The Philosophical Foundations of Political Economy." An examination of the philosophical foundations of political economy. Possible figures to be convered include Locke, Rousseau, Smith, Marx, Mill, Hayek, Harrington, Friedman, Galbraith, Jouvenel, and Nussbaum. This course is suitable for students with no background in philosophy and may be repeated for credit when the course content changes. May be counted toward the majors or minors in economics and government, ant toward the major in international affairs. V.7
