The 2014 Creative Writing Conference took place Thursday, April 3, through Sunday, April 6. For questions about next year’s conference, feel free to contact John Casteen at jcasteen@sbc.edu.

Sweet Briar’s Creative Writing Program is vibrant and energetic, focused on creating an environment where young writers can grow through one-on-one mentoring, peer-review, and access to the inspiring beauty of Sweet Briar’s 3,000-acre campus, and we want you to join us for a long weekend in March to focus on writing and the community of writers.

Short-term intensive residential conferences exist for high school students, graduate students, and independent writers, but generally not for college students. This is an opportunity to take some time away from your ordinary routine to get deeply into your own work; it will also introduce you to some of the best undergraduate writers from colleges and universities all over Virginia, each chosen by faculty nominators. Our goal is to establish a community of writers unlike anything else you would find outside of an M.F.A. program.

Take a look at last year’s schedule and line-up of featured readers for a sense of what to expect. Stay tuned for updates on this year’s line-up.

For information on the program and how you might be considered for a spot in this program, contact Professor John Casteen: jcasteen@sbc.edu
