Application Process

Deadline February 1

  • December 15 — All required tests to be completed and passed
  • February 1 — All credentials are due
  • April 15 — Decision letters are mailed
  • May 1 — $250 enrollment deposit is due

Required Credentials

MAT Program

  • Completed application form
  • Essays
  • $40 non-refundable application fee (check should be made payable to Sweet Briar College)
  • One official transcript from each college or university attended
  • Three references
  • Official scores from both the Praxis I (or equivalent substitute) and Praxis II exam
  • Official scores from the Virginia Communication and Literacy Assessment (VCLA)
  • If applying for Elementary licensure, official scores from the Reading for Virginia Educators assessment (RVE)

M.Ed. Program

  • Completed application form
  • Essays
  • $40 non-refundable application fee (check should be made payable to Sweet Briar College)
  • One official transcript from each college or university attended
  • One copy of the student's teaching license
  • Three references
  • Official GRE scores (within three years)
