Graduate Students

A master’s degree is one of the most valuable investments you can make for your future. If Sweet Briar College is your choice, we will work closely with you to help you manage this investment.

Once you qualify for admission, you also may qualify for need-based assistance. Need-based financial aid, in the form of long-term loans or non-repayable grants, is offered to half- and full-time graduate students who demonstrate the need for additional resources to afford Sweet Briar’s total cost. For financial aid purposes, a half-time load is six semester hours and a full-time load is nine semester hours.

If you qualify for need-based aid, the College’s Office of Financial Aid will send you an award letter and an informational packet detailing the full amount and individual sources of your assistance.

Typically, a need-based award is composed of:

  1. Grants (money which does not have to be repaid)
  2. A loan or loans (which must be repaid)

Submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if you would like to apply for the Federal TEACH Grant and/or the Federal Direct Loan.
