Sweet Briar students of German may study for one term or for the entire academic year at Heidelberg University through the Heidelberg University exchange program or for one academic year in Munich with a program sponsored by Wayne State University. During the 2011-12 academic year there was an exchange with the University of Dortmund that may develop into a closer association.
Programs are also available at other universities in Germany and Austria. Interested students should contact the German faculty in the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures and the Director of International Studies.
German Summer Program in Münster
Sweet Briar is associated with an intensive five-week summer program of travel and study in Germany. The program entails a five-week home-stay with a German host family.
While in Münster, students take courses in German conversation, literature, grammar and culture. Students who successfully complete the program receive six semester hours of credit. Minimum requirements are the completion of GRMN 101 and GRMN 102 or the equivalent, and the recommendation of the instructor.
