Honors Colloquia, Lectures, and Events 2007 - 2008
Honors Colloquia offer the entire campus community opportunities to
engage in academic discourse outside of the classroom. Sweet Briar faculty,
as well as visiting scholars, present research talks in all academic
disciplines for audiences that include faculty and students from Sweet
Briar College and occasionally students and faculty from other colleges.
Every year the Honors Program selects a concept to examine and discuss across academic disciplines. In Honors seminars, colloquia, and weekly lunch table discussions, we invite the campus community to consider the different meanings attached to a word or phrase when viewed through the different disciplinary perspectives of the sciences, the arts, and the humanities. This year’s theme is "Mind and Body." Sweet Briar faculty, as well as visiting scholars, will present research talks in all academic disciplines throughout the year. The informal presentations include questions and discussion, and all students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to attend.
