About 20 Sweet Briar riders competed in the Southwest Virginia Hunter Jumper Association’s Annual Horse Show and Medal Finals Nov. 7 through 9 at the Virginia Horse Center in Lexington.
Over the course of the weekend the Vixens accumulated an impressive array of trophies and ribbons, including champion or reserve champion titles in several divisions.

Katie Davilli ’09 and her horse Juliet won the second-place ribbon in the SWVHJA Adult Medal Finals, earning the title of reserve champion.
Alison Sims ’09, riding SBC’s Chinook, was the best Adult Amateur Hunter Rider and was the champion in the Adult Amateur Hunter division for ages 18 to 35. She placed first in two Adult Hunter Over Fences classes and third in another. She also won the Children’s and Adult Hunter Derby with Chinook and placed sixth in the Hunt Night Handy Hunter.
Morganne Young ’11, who rode SBC’s Braveheart, won the SWVHJA Hunter Seat Medal Finals and was the Best Child Rider on a Horse. She tied for reserve champion in the Children’s Hunter Division, placing first in the Children’s Handy Hunter class, was second in the Children’s and Adult Hunter Derby, and third in the Hunt Night Handy Hunter.
Sarah Fishback ’11 and her horse Almond placed first in the Handy Hunter and fourth in the Adult Medal Finals.
Heather Theunissen ’09 and her horse Double Dutch won the $250 Child/Adult Jumper Classic; placed third in the Oak Ridge Medal class, third in the level four jumper class and fifth in the level three jumper class.
Jordan Fedrizzi ’11 riding, SBC’s Prophet, was second in the Randolph Medal class, fifth in the Adult Equitation on the flat and eighth in the Special Adult Hunter Over Fences class.
Lauren Guyer ’09, riding SBC’s Cassiema One, was second in Adult Equitation on the flat.
Kathryn Brock ’09 and her horse Paloma were fourth in the Working Hunter Over Fences class, third in the Working Hunter Under Saddle and fourth in the $500 Working Hunter Classic.
Nell Malbon ’11 and her horse Feature Presentation placed second and fourth in two Adult Hunter Over Fences classes and fourth in the Adult Hunter Under Saddle class.
Lauren Perhala ’12 and SBC’s Well Deserved rode to second and third in two Special Children’s Hunter Over Fences classes, sixth in a Special Children’s Hunter Under Saddle and sixth in the Special Children’s/Adult Hunter Derby.
Greer Gordon ’12 rode SBC’s Loki and placed sixth in her over fences class, fifth on the flat in the Green Hunter Division and fifth over fences in a Special Children’s Hunter class.
