On a rain-soaked afternoon the Vixen field hockey team fell to Sewanee 5-1.
The Vixens pushed through the slipping, sliding, and nearly-visible day, but their efforts were just not enough to push them past Sewanee.
The Vixen defense had another stand-out day facing 27 shots and 17 penalty corners. Sophomore goalie Madeline Wilson (Orange, Va.) had a strong finish to a tough weekend by making 19 saves in today's effort.
Scoring the lone goal for the Vixens today was sophomore Alexandra St. Pierre (So. Hamilton, Va.) off a corner. St. Pierre pushed through and made it happen with 7:08 left in the game.
The Vixens are back in action this Saturday with their home opener against Washington and Lee at 12 noon.
