The new Fitness and Athletics Center is a welcome and necessary update to the current Williams Gymnasium. It is the new darling of campus and was 75 years in the making. New is fabulous, shiny and wonderful. New infuses athletes with passion, commitment and a sense of belonging in this rigorous academic environment. The women’s volleyball program eagerly awaits the opportunity to host our first multi-squad tournament.
The new field house is a great facility to host collegiate volleyball tournaments for the Sweet Briar volleyball program during the official NCAA season and non-traditional season. The opportunities validate our growth and competitiveness in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference.
The additional three volleyball courts provide the opportunity for community exposure as hosts to USA Volleyball tournaments. In partnership with local organizations Sweet Briar can host events that will generate revenue for the campus as well as bring hundreds of young high school girls and their parents to campus.
The women’s volleyball program encourages you to become engaged. Play racquetball, work out in the weight room, watch a volleyball game, walk on the track, watch a movie, snack in the Bistro, shoot some pool, take a spinning class, or hop into the pick-up soccer games. And if in the end you don’t like doing these things all by yourself, grab a volleyball player and make them work out with you.
