On Thursday, Oct. 15, Sweet Briar College welcomes poets John Casteen and Taije Silverman. The reading is part of the 2009-2010 Writers Series and begins at 8 p.m. in Pannell Gallery. Admission is free.
Taije SilvermanCasteen teaches at Sweet Briar and is author of the poetry
collection “Free Union.” His poems have appeared in The Southern Review,
Ploughshares, The Iowa Review, Shenandoah and other magazines. His nonfiction pieces
have been published in Slate, The Washington Post, The Chronicle of Higher
Education and The Virginia Quarterly Review.
Silverman teaches at Ursinus College in Collegeville, Penn. Her first book of poetry, “Houses Are Fields,” was released this year by Louisiana State University Press. Her work has appeared in Ploughshares and other literary journals, and in 1998, she acted in “Windhorse,” a political drama that was filmed on location in Tibet.
The next event in the Writers Series will feature novelist and short story writer Hannah Tinti at 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5 in Pannell Gallery. Tinti is author of “The Good Thief” and the story collection “Animal Crackers.”
