The Sweet Briar Vixens wrapped up their season this year with their last game at Randolph-Macon College on Saturday. The Vixens lost 4-0, but that’s not what the girls will remember or take away from the season.
The Yellow Jackets got on the board 8 minutes into the game, and followed up with another goal 1 min and 35 seconds later. The Yellow Jackets would score one more goal before the half ended, going into half time with a 3-0 lead.
The second half was a better game for the Vixens allowing only 1 goal, 8 shots, and 5 corners. On the attacking end the Vixens took a total of 7 shots and 5 corners.
In the pipes sophomore goalkeepers Emma Rakosky (Elicott City, Md) and Madeline Wilson (Orange ,Va) split time. Rakosky came up with 6 saves in the effort while Wilson made 2.
The Vixens posted a season of 2-14, and 0-7 in the conference. They took a total of 130 shots, scored 16 goals, took 50 corners, and made 195 saves. “It was not a season about winning, it was a season about learning. Toward the end the pieces really started to come together. We hope to reap the benefits next season” said Lamina.
