Survey of artistic creation in France until the beginning of the 20^th century

Spring semester : 1 unit -- Histoire de l'art du 18e siècle jusqu'au début du 20e siècle

An introduction to French art from the Renaissance to the beginning of the 20th century. Works studied will include painting, sculpture, and architecture. Weekly sessions at the Louvre and the Musée d'Orsay, in addition to regular class meetings, will constitute an integral part of the course. Recommended for both majors and non-majors in Art History.

M. Pralong-Gourvennec is an Art Historian who has taught at the Ecole Supérieure des Sciences de la Communication in Nantes and is a specialist in nineteenth-century art, in particular Henri Gervex.
