The Sweet Briar College Teacher Education Program is accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation, http://caepnet.org/. In 2022, the teacher education program received probationary status.

The Sweet Briar teacher education program offers licensure in Elementary Education (BA or MAT) and in the following areas as part of the MAT program (an extension of undergraduate work): biology (grades 6–12), chemistry (grades 6–12), English (grades 6–12), history/social science (grades 6–12), mathematics (grades 6–12), dance (grades preK-12), theatre arts (grades preK–12), and visual arts (grades preK–12).
All students in the program, may achieve an endorsement in Special Education, too.
