About the Program

Understanding our environments and the role of humans within them requires diverse skills, knowledge, and ways of thinking. Accordingly, our environmental science program is interdisciplinary, drawing on courses not only from across the natural sciences, but also the social sciences and humanities.

Students expand their capacities for interpreting and applying what they learn in the classroom through labs, field work, and off-campus experiences.

Students in the environmental science major explore scientific, environmental, social, cultural, and political dimensions of our relationship with the natural world, while building essential technical and analytical skills.

Environmental science graduates have been very successful in securing admissions to graduate programs and relevant professional positions within one year of graduation.
