All student, faculty and staff vehicles must be registered with the Department of Campus Safety. A parking permit, which is obtained through the Department of Campus Safety, will serve as a means of identifying those cars which have been properly registered.

• Online Registration must be filled out completely for a parking permit to be issued.

• The issuance of a parking permit does not guarantee the right to a parking space. It is up to the individual driver to find an appropriate parking space for their vehicle. The lack of available parking does not justify violating the parking regulations.

• Parking permits must be current and must be displayed at all times while on College property. Permits should be affixed on the driver’s side rear window. 

• Changing vehicles or registration:

  • If you change vehicles during the course of the year, you will need to fill out a new online registration form to obtain a new permit. 

  • If your license plate number changes, bring your state registration certificate to Campus Safety so that your records can be updated. 

Students

Any student may keep a vehicle on campus. However, students and guests who bring vehicles to Sweet Briar College do so at their own risk. Sweet Briar College is not responsible for lost, stolen or damaged vehicles brought to campus or left there.

Students with vehicles on the campus of Sweet Briar College should understand that storing, parking and operation of a vehicle on campus is a privilege, not a right. That privilege may be revoked at any time. Student vehicles are subject to the following:

• Students are required to register any vehicle they plan on parking on campus by the first day of classes of the current academic semester.
• The fee for student parking is $170 per year for residential and non-residential students. Payment for this fee may be made in cash or check; checks must be made payable to Sweet Briar College. The business office will accept credit card payments for this fee during normal business hours.
• Students receiving two (2) or more tickets for failing to register a vehicle/properly display a current permit will be subject for review of campus parking privileges until the vehicle is properly registered and all outstanding fines have been paid.

Faculty and Staff

Sweet Briar College is not responsible for lost, stolen or damaged vehicles brought to campus or left there.

• New faculty and staff members are required to register any vehicle they plan on parking on campus within one (1) week of beginning their employment at Sweet Briar College.
