Applying for Financial Aid
We offer step-by-step guidelines on applying for aid. The biggest task is filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). This information is used to develop your need-based aid package.
Scholarships & Grants
Sweet Briar offers merit scholarships, which are based on GPA, academic achievement and other criteria, as well as need-based financial aid for families who demonstrate the need for additional resources to afford Sweet Briar’s total cost.
Virginia residents are also eligible for two state-based tuition assistance grants.
Federal grants are also available for students who demonstrate exceptional need.
Work-Study
Federal Work-Study Program (FWS) is a federally funded, need-based student employment program offered to students who show exceptional need and are Pell Grant eligible.
Sweet Briar College Work-Study is a college-funded, need-based, student employment program offered to students who demonstrate financial need. There also are non-need-based college jobs at Sweet Briar.
