Applying for Financial Aid

We try to take the guesswork out of financial aid by providing you with an easy-to-follow checklist for your senior year:

  1. Apply for admission to Sweet Briar as soon as the application is available (typically mid-August).
  2. Sometime between Sept. 1 and Dec. 31, use Sweet Briar’s net price calculator.
  3. File your FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid), starting Oct. 1. When you file your FAFSA (studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa), be sure to include SBC’s FAFSA code 003742.
  4. Eagerly await your award package. Those meeting the stated deadlines will typically receive a financial aid package in early Nov.

Other activities you should be doing to help reduce college costs include looking into non-SBC-specific scholarships. You can create online scholarship profiles on sites such as Fastweb, Chegg, BigFuture. Also, visit your college counseling/guidance office regularly for information about local scholarships.
