Six students compete in statewide Ethics Bowl

Six students from Sweet Briar College participated in the Virginia Foundation for Independent Colleges’ 21^st annual statewide collegiate Wells Fargo Ethics Bowl on Feb. 9 and 10 at the University of Lynchburg. Teams from Virginia’s 15 leading independent colleges and universities deliberated a variety of case studies highlighting ethical dilemmas.

The members of Sweet Briar’s team included Cora Dunlap ’23, Shifti Kamal ’20, Corey Lamas ’20, Bella McCloskey ’20, McKenna Snyder ’23  and Amber Whitman ’20. Professionals from a variety of fields including business, law, education, finance and journalism listened to team presentations and offered reactions to the students’ presentations.

While Virginia Wesleyan University won the competition, the Sweet Briar team did an outstanding job debating the case studies and representing the College. Sweet Briar last won the Ethics Bowl in 2011 and was runner-up in 2012.
