First-year honor society Alpha Lambda Delta gains 13 Sweet Briar members

Sweet Briar College inducted 13 members from the Class of 2021 into its chapter of the national honor society Alpha Lambda Delta during a ceremony in Prothro today.

Alpha Lambda Delta recognizes academic excellence during a student’s first year in college. The purpose of Alpha Lambda Delta is to promote a continued high standard of learning and to encourage superior academic achievement.

Lizzie Baker, Arden Csaplar, Annabella Falls, Mary Lizzie Hodges, Hannah Inman, Angelika Lindberg, Jordan Macurak, Audrey Malone, Kendall Nicely, Mary Parker, Lillian Peterson, Caroline Potts and Samantha Runyon earned the distinction through outstanding achievement during the 2017-18 academic year.

The students were initiated by Dean of the College Lynn Rainville, philosophy professor and faculty advisor Chris Penfield and dean’s office executive assistant Cyndi Fein.

Sweet Briar established its chapter of Alpha Lambda Delta in 1991. To be eligible, a student must have earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher in her first academic year.
