
The Sweet Briar IHSA team won the overall team championship at the Virginia Commonwealth IHSA show at Stillmeadows Farm on Saturday, Oct. 20.
Individually, four Sweet Briar riders picked up top honors.
First-year Chloe Kerschl (Lexington, Va.) won intermediate flat, while sophomore Kaitlin Duecker (Chesapeake, Va.) was the novice flat champion.
In novice fences, senior Nicole Sabovik (Ridgefield, Conn.) earned top spot and sophomore Madeleine McAllister won in walk, trot.
Junior Sarah Miller (Amissville, Va.) picked up a trio of top-five finishes as she finished second in novice flat and fifth in novice fences, while first-year Abby Bell (Stafford, Va.) and junior Abbey Narodowy (North Smithfield, R.I.) both earned second in the advanced walk, trot, canter classes.
Senior Ailish Rhoades (Lebanon, Conn.) and first-year Caroline Waters (Forest, Va.) finished third in the open flat and intermediate fences, respectively.
Sweet Briar is next in action at the University of Richmond show on Saturday, Nov. 3, at Haverhill Equestrian in Ashland, Va.
