
Three Sweet Briar riders finished first in their respective events on Sunday as Sweet Briar hosted riding programs from across the Commonwealth of Virginia in an IHSA Show at the Harriet Howell Rogers Riding Center.
Individually, the Vixens placed riders first and second in walk, trot, canter, as first-year Abby Bell (Stafford, Va.) finished with top honors followed by junior Ellyn Narodowy (North Smithfield, R.I.) in second.
In open flat and open fences, junior Ailish Rhoades (Lebanon, Conn.) placed second on the flat and sixth over fences.
Sophomore Kaitlin Duecker (Chesapeake, Va.) was impressive in the home show with a first-place showing over novice fences and a fourth-place finish in novice flat.
The Vixens’ third first-place honoree was first-year Caroline Waters (Forest, Va.), who earned top laurels over intermediate fences, while first-year Chloe Kerschl was fifth over intermediate fences and fifth in intermediate flat.
Sophomore Madeline McAllister rounded out the individual placers for Sweet Briar, earning second in walk, trot for Sweet Briar.
As a team, Sweet Briar finished third in the team standings with 31 team points.
The Sweet Briar IHSA team will compete next on Oct. 20 at Virginia Commonwealth, with the show taking place at Stillmeadows Farm in Mechanicsville, Va.
