Three Sweet Briar equestrian student-athletes were recognized by the Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association with IHSA National All-Academic First Team honors as senior Cassie Fenton, sophomore Cassie Mills and first-year Lily Peterson picked up nods, while another six Vixens received second-team laurels.
Second-team honors went to sophomores Jade Ashley, Amber Snyder and Erin Snyder, as well as seniors Courtney Barry, Makayla Benjamin and Jules Sudol.
Barry and Benjamin, along with junior Emily Schlosberg, also were recognized earlier this month by the National Collegiate Equestrian Association as members of the American Paint Horse Association NCEA Academic Honor Roll and as First Team 2018 Farnam NCEA All-Academic honorees. Schlosberg earned a second-team nod, while junior Aoife Magner received an honorable mention.
First-team honorees qualified by achieving a cumulative GPA of 3.8 or higher, while participating in at least one regular season IHSA horse show during the academic years. Second-team recipients were held to the same participation requirement and boast a GPA of 3.5 or higher.
