
The Sweet Briar IHSA team participated in the last competition of the semester on Saturday, Nov. 18, at William and Mary.
The highlight of the competition was Jade Ashley ’20 winning her walk, trot class and qualifying for regionals. Also winning their classes were Lily Peterson ’21 in novice on the flat and Makayla Benjamin ’18 in open on the flat. Benjamin also placed third in open fences. Additional riders bringing home third place finishes were Marina Biel ’18 in her debut in novice on the flat, Chandler Fox ’20 who competed in her first IHSA show in advanced walk, trot, canter, and Ailish Rhoades ’20 in novice on the flat.
Fourth place ribbons were awarded to Aoife Magner ’19 in open on the flat and Emily Schlosberg ’19 in intermediate on the flat. Rhoades and Katie Balding ’21 both placed sixth in their respective sections of novice over fences. Jules Sudol ’18 brought home a sixth place finish in intermediate on the flat and competed in a large and competitive class of intermediate over fences. Also competing for the team was Erin Snyder ’20 who placed sixth in advanced walk, trot, canter.
The team will start up again next semester on Feb. 10, 2018, at Liberty University.
