Riding scores high-point team and rider awards at second IHSA competition

Sweet Briar’s Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association team traveled to Richmond on Saturday to compete at Virginia Commonwealth University. Following a strong showing last week, the Vixens emerged victorious again, adding the title of high-point rider to yet another high-point team award.

Ailish Rhoades ’20 brought home the high-point rider award with wins in both novice fences and novice flat. Courtney Barry ’18 won her intermediate fences class and was third in novice flat. Jade Ashley ’20 won the walk, trot division to help clinch the win.

Competing in their first IHSA shows, Lily Peterson ’21 was second in novice fences and Claudia Sadler ’21 came in third in walk, trot, canter. Marina Biel ’18 landed in second place in walk, trot, canter, while Makayla Benjamin ’18 scored a fifth place in open flat and a third place in open fences. Aoife Magner ’19 was third in open flat, Emily Schlosberg ’19 was third in intermediate flat and Katie Balding ’21 was fourth in novice flat.
