The 2016-17 Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) Academic All-State team includes six Sweet Briar College student-athletes. Across the state, a total of 217 student-athletes from 37 colleges and universities were recognized.

Noell Cosby, Lydia Gullicksen, Kiley Jolicoeur, Alicia Wooten, Samantha Yew and Claire Zak are the SBC student-athletes selected to the Academic All-State team. To be eligible, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore and have a 3.25 cumulative grade point average or higher. All six Sweet Briar students on the Academic All-State team had GPAs over 3.75, with Wooten and Gullicksen topping 3.9.
VaSID is comprised of sports information or athletics communications professionals from intercollegiate institutions throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia. Membership is open to any individual affiliated with one of the state’s institutions at the NCAA Division I, Division II, Division III, NAIA, USCAA, NJCAA, community college and independent levels, provided that individual’s area of responsibility lies within the realm of sports information.
