Sweet Briar’s ANRC teams completed a successful week at the American National Rider Commission Finals at Savannah College of Art and Design, scoring a fourth- and a seventh-place finish.

The annual competition consists of four phases, including a written exam, a program ride, a medal phase and a derby phase. Teams from colleges all over the country come to compete — national teams at the 3-foot level and novice teams at 2 feet, 6 inches.

Sweet Briar’s national team placed fourth overall, while the novice team came in seventh, all on College-owned horses. Makayla Benjamin ’18 on Dorado finished fifth overall for the national team among a tough group of competitors. The pair placed in the top 10 in each phase. Olivia Fabian Slocum ’17, riding Lord of the Dance, finished in the top 10 in the National Medal Phase. Emily Schlosberg ’19 competed on Theodore and helped gain points for the national team. The novice team consisted of Courtney Barry ’18 on Fernando and Aoife Magner ’19 on Aate.
