The Sweet Briar College Board of Directors has announced it will host the Phil Stone Farewell Food Truck Festival from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 22, on the campus quad. Everyone is welcome at this celebration to thank President Phillip C. Stone for his steady leadership over the past two years. He will leave the office to his successor, Meredith Woo, on May 15.

“It struck us that the best way to thank Phil Stone for everything he’s done for Sweet Briar and this region was to have a communitywide celebration,” says Teresa Tomlinson, chairwoman of the board. “The food trucks, the music, the gorgeous campus and all the people who helped us and cheered for us over these two years will provide the perfect ‘thank you’ to Phil and Cherrill Stone.”

The invitation is extended to friends and neighbors in the Amherst and Lynchburg communities and at nearby colleges, as well as all current and former Sweet Briar board members, alumnae, students, faculty and staff. Food options will include Jacked Rabbit, Upper Crust, Blue Ridge Barbecue, Uprooted and Frosty Penguin. Complimentary popcorn, cookies, lemonade and water will be available.

There also will be musical entertainment by Sweet Briar’s own steel band, Skiffle USA, as well as outdoor activities for children and adults.

Food is available for purchase, but there is no cost to attend. The rain location is Upchurch Field House in the Fitness and Athletics Center. For more information, please email president@sbc.edu or call (434) 381-6210.
