IHSA team finishes fourth at Bridgewater

Sweet Briar College’s Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association team competed at Bridgewater College on Saturday, bringing home a fourth-place finish.

Blue ribbons went to Aoife Magner ’19 in open fences and Maddy Lee ’17 in intermediate fences. Lee also competed in intermediate flat and finished second. Magner qualified for regional finals in intermediate flat with a fifth-place finish in her section, delivering one of the day’s highlights.

Junior Makayla Benjamin finished second in open flat and fourth in open fences, while first-year Sarah Miller placed fourth in both novice flat and novice fences. Cassie Fenton ’18 placed fourth in novice flat. First-years Amber Snyder and Abbey Narodowy both competed in advanced walk, trot, canter, with Snyder finishing third in her section. Walk, trot rider Jade Ashley ’20 finished up the day at fourth place.

The Vixens will compete at home with Lynchburg College on Saturday, Feb. 25, and finish up the regular season at the University of Virginia on Sunday, Feb. 26.
