The
2016 Dive Awards recognize top disruptors and innovators in various industries, including education. Industry Dive solicited suggestions for title nominees from among its millions of readers, according to its website. A panel of industry insiders helped editors choose the winners based on resonance and industry impact.
In the education category, other awards included “College/University of the Year,” “Executive of the Year,” “Most Disruptive Idea,” “Obsession of the Year,” “Policy of the Year,” “Legal Battle of the Year,” “Best Investment,” “Startup of the Year” and “Biggest Missed Opportunity.”
“2016 has been a tumultuous year for higher education, though certainly not the first or last year the industry has seen numerous challenges set to disrupt the landscape,” according to a
news release published Tuesday.
Sweet Briar College, Education Dive argues, offers “hope to small liberal arts colleges across the country” because of its averted closure, the continued alumnae engagement, and strong fundraising efforts — even if it may be “an extreme best-case scenario,” the site cautions.
