Michela English ’71
The Washington Business Journal’s 2016 list of 25 “Women Who Mean Business” includes two Sweet Briar alumnae — former chair of the board Michela English ’71 and Wendelin White ’74.
White is director and chair of the real estate transactions group, Goulston & Storrs PC. She holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Sweet Briar, an M.F.A. in English from the University of California-Irvine and a J.D. from the University of Miami — her hometown.
“I grew up with a lot of boys around, which I do think prepared me for the business world,” she told the journal, referring to her five brothers. “Early in my career, almost every meeting I went to, I was the only woman there, but I never even thought about that fact because I was so used to it.”
