The NCAA has announced its 2015-16 statistical champions, and recent Sweet Briar College graduate Nene Jones won three awards for her impressive softball season.

Jones led the Vixen softball team in practically every offensive category, including hits, runs, RBI and home runs. Along with leading the team, Jones finished the season with the best batting average, on-base percentage and slugging percentage in all of Division III softball.

The Vixens played a 14-game condensed schedule in 2016, but that didn’t hinder Jones from getting off to a hot start and carrying it through the season. She finished with a batting average of .564, an on-base percentage of .630, and a slugging percentage of 1.154. Jones’ slugging percentage mark would have been enough to set a new ODAC single-season record had the Vixens competed in the conference last year.

Jones joins recent Sweet Briar statistical champions Eve Mergenthaler ’16 (2014, field hockey) and Allison McLamb ’17 (2015, lacrosse).

Jones graduated from Sweet Briar this past spring with a degree in sociology and psychology and is now working with AmeriCorps in Iowa.
