2016 Business Appreciation Award
Sweet Briar College is the recipient of a 2016 Amherst County Business Appreciation Award. The Amherst County Chamber of Commerce selected Sweet Briar as the large business category winner.

President Phillip C. Stone accepted the honor at the chamber’s 14th annual dinner earlier this month in Prothro. Stone was one of two guest speakers at the event, which drew more than 100 executives, business owners, government officials and residents to campus.

“We are pleased to receive this recognition, not only for the compliment it pays us, but for the confirmation that we are back as an engaged neighbor in the Amherst community,” Stone said. “We intend to continue to be actively involved here.”

Other 2016 award winners include Caterpillar Clubhouse (medium business), Woodruff’s Café and Pie Shop (small business), Lola’s (new business), IRON Lives, Inc. (nonprofit), and the Honorable J. Michael Gamble (Harry L. Day, Jr. Award).
