Sweet Briar is one of 11 Virginia colleges and universities, and the only women’s college in the state, to be named to Forbes’ 2016 list of 300 Best Value Colleges.

Virginia schools in the top 50 were the University of Virginia, the College of William and Mary, Virginia Tech, Washington and Lee University and Virginia Military Institute. The No. 1 college on the list was the University of California, Berkeley.

In addition to Sweet Briar College, other Virginia institutions that made the cut were James Madison University, University of Richmond, George Mason University, University of Mary Washington and Hampden-Sydney College.

Forbes based its ranking on a combination of tuition costs, school quality, graduation success rates and post-grad earnings. The list was compiled in partnership with the Washington, D.C.-based Center for College Affordability and Productivity.
