The November 2015 print and online editions of Virginia Business magazine, which is distributed around the state and beyond, feature Sweet Briar College in a story titled “Solving a Math Problem.” The article summarizes the College’s journey and plans to secure the future.
Author Gary Robertson quotes President Stone’s “simple strategy for saving Sweet Briar: ‘Get students and get funds.’ One strategy for this, he says, is seeking more international students.”
He also quotes Sweet Briar’s board chair, Teresa Pike Tomlinson ’87, whom the article describes as a “fiery Sweet Briar alumna.”
“‘We have found a tremendous untapped capacity among Sweet Briar alumnae,’ she says, citing their resources and passion to see the school survive,” Robertson writes.
The article’s lead photograph is of first-year student Amelia Currin.
“I have witnessed a powerful group of women rise up in the form of Saving Sweet Briar and leverage their clout to overcome insurmountable odds,” she tells the magazine. “Who would not want to stand strong among their ranks?”
