Cathy Cash Mays, who serves as catering director for Aramark, has been named director of hospitality for the College. She will begin working in her new position on Aug. 10, after Aramark’s last day of service at Sweet Briar.

Mays, who replaces Cheryl Elkins, will be responsible for the Florence Elston Inn & Conference Center and summer programs and will serve as liaison to Sweet Briar Dining Services. The College’s food service operation has been brought back in house with Parkhurst Dining providing management. With the exception of on-site Parkhurst supervisors, all dining services staff members will be Sweet Briar employees.

“I have enjoyed working on the Sweet Briar campus over the past thirty-one years, both as a Sweet Briar and an Aramark employee, with each position offering many wonderful learning experiences,” Mays said.

“I look forward to having the opportunity to continue to serve the College and the community as a whole. I am excited to be a part of the continuing success of this institution, which truly believes in, and supports, women and their endeavors.”

Mays is a 1984 graduate of Sweet Briar and has served the institution since then, beginning work in the alumnae office the day after graduation. In 1987, Mays moved to the development office, where she worked for 20 years, including through the end of the College’s last capital campaign. After accepting a catering position in 2007, Mays joined Aramark in 2010 as catering director.

Mays is the proud mother of two. Her son Jason and his wife, Lauren, have a son, Brody, with whom she enjoys spending time. Mays also is pleased to note that her daughter Ashton will be a first-year student at the University of Virginia in the fall.
