Sweet Briar’s Leadership Certificate Program will host its 18th annual conference, “Growing Leaders from the Inside Out,” from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7. As in previous years, the program is organized by students and features a keynote speaker, as well as several breakout sessions.
Nell Schroer
This year’s lineup includes many familiar faces, among them former campus student employment coordinator Nell Schroer, who returns to Sweet Briar as a certified life coach to talk about living authentically — a choice we must make each day, she argues.
How to do it?
“I make lots of mistakes. I take lots of notes. I laugh. I cry. But mostly, I just have fun!” says the creator of “Confidence to Career,” a program for young people looking to sharpen their job interview skills.
Schroer’s keynote address will be followed by breakout sessions led by Dean Amy Jessen-Marshall, assistant professor of music Marcia Thom Kaley, head lacrosse coach and assistant director of the FAC Hayley Engster, and Christen Campbell ’13, an MBA candidate at Lynchburg College.
