Sweet Briar professor of mathematical sciences Raina Robeva recently accepted one of 12 2014 Outstanding Faculty Awards from the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia. An OFA award is the commonwealth’s highest honor given to faculty at its private and public universities and colleges.

The 12 honorees were recognized at a luncheon Feb. 20 at the Jefferson Hotel in Richmond, following an introduction on the floor of the General Assembly.

The awards were established in 1986 by SCHEV and the General Assembly to honor faculty members for excellence in teaching, research, knowledge integration and public service. The twelve recipients were selected from a pool of 115 applications based on accomplishments that strongly reflect the missions of their respective institutions.
