Marsha Taylor Horton ’76 has been appointed interim dean of the College of Education, Health and Public Policy at Delaware State University in Dover. She will take on her new duties on Aug. 19.
Most recently, Horton was an associate professor and dean of the School of Education at Virginia Union University in Richmond. Earlier in her career, she served as associate professor in clinical studies at Wilmington University and from 1993 to 1999 was associate secretary of assessment and accountability for the Delaware Department of Education.
Horton graduated from Sweet Briar College in 1976 and earned her doctorate in educational psychology from the University of Illinois in 1982. She is a member of Sweet Briar’s board of directors and the sister of Sandra Taylor ’74, who serves as president of the Alumnae Association.
“I consider it an honor and a blessing to receive this appointment,” Horton said. “I’ve been working out of state for the past year, [so] in addition to this being a wonderful opportunity, I am now back with my family. We haven’t stopped smiling!”
