Sweet Briar College will host Know How: The College Search Process from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 15 at the Elston Inn Conference Center on campus.
The free workshop is a collaboration by five colleges — including private non-profit, community and public institutions — to help students and families navigate the college admissions process. Sessions cover topics such as making the most of your campus visit; insights on how college admissions officers use SAT or ACT scores, curriculum and grades as they evaluate applicants; and financial aid basics.
Sessions begin at 6:15 p.m. and run concurrently, allowing participants to attend up to three topics. Students are also encouraged to bring an essay or essay topic for one-on-one help with an admissions counselor who can proofread and provide feedback.
Know How is presented by Sweet Briar, Central Virginia Community College, Lynchburg College, James Madison University and Randolph College. The participating schools will host a college fair at 5:30.
