Concerts round out December calendar

December has arrived, bringing with it a flurry of end-of-semester activities, including Sweet Briar student and faculty performances.The Sweet Tones, the College’s student a cappella group, will kick the holiday season into high gear with a presentation of “A Sweet Christmas” at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7 in Memorial Chapel. The performance will include a selection of Christmas carols and other favorites such as “Carol of the Bells,” “Santa Baby” and “All I Want for Christmas is You.” The concert will feature three soloists, Hayley Foraker ’15, Chantell Melgarejo ’12 and Lambda Green ’14.

Two events will be held Thursday, Dec. 8. At 7:30 p.m. the Sweet Briar Chamber Orchestra will perform in Memorial Chapel with Joe Nigro directing. The concert program features a selection of songs by Joseph Haydn and W.A. Mozart. At 7:30 p.m. students taking dance composition this semester will showcase their final performances in the upper dance studio at Babcock Fine Arts Center.

Nick and Jana Ross also invite listeners to attend a recital by violin, viola and piano students from the Ross School of Music at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18 in Memorial Chapel.

All events are free and open to the public.
