The Sweet Briar Leadership Certificate Program will host the College’s 14th Annual Student Leadership Conference from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 29 at the Florence Elston Inn Conference Center. Attendance is open to all college students and selected juniors and seniors from area high schools.
This year’s theme is “The Changing Face of Leadership.” Keynote speaker Todd Rowland of Fortune Hi-Tech Marketing will kick off the conference following a welcome by Sweet Briar’s chief of staff, Louise Zingaro. Session speakers include Kate Obenshain, vice president of Young America’s Foundation; Sweet Briar graduate Kristin Chapdelaine, a senior account executive with the global marketing firm Edelman; Dorinda Grasty, division superintendent of Appomattox County Public Schools; and Craig Cassell, executive director of Amherst County Habitat for Humanity.
Sessions run from 10:15 to 11 a.m. and 11:10 to noon. Closing remarks will follow lunch. Attire is business casual.
The annual conference, which is entirely organized by students in Sweet Briar’s Leadership Certificate Program, is always well attended, so early registration is recommended.
