Sweet Briar mourns professor

The Sweet Briar community was saddened to learn of the death of David Orvos on Tuesday, Dec. 28. He is survived by his wife, Andrea, and son, Michael.
Professor Orvos taught environmental science in the environmental studies program, which he helped found when he came to Sweet Briar more than 10 years ago. A beloved teacher and colleague, he is missed by past and present students, fellow faculty and staff members, and will be remembered for his devotion to teaching, science and serving his community.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Jan. 29. in Sweet Briar Memorial Chapel with Chaplain Adam White officiating. A full obituary appears in the Lynchburg News & Advance.
