Christmas Vespers marks the season

Sweet Briar College will hold its Christmas Vespers at 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 5 in Memorial Chapel.

Chaplain Adam White will be the celebrant and students will read the scripture. Performers include organist Rebecca McCord, pianist Anna Billias, Lynn Buck and Julie Sharp on flute, soloists Marcia Thom, Elizabeth Rizzo and Sarah Schofield, and the Sweet Briar chamber and concert choirs. College dean and professor of music Jonathan Green will direct.

Sweet Briar’s Vespers is a traditional program of alternating lessons and carols, including hymns such as “Tomorrow Shall Be My Dancing Day” and “What Child is This?”
