With saddle blankets sporting Obama ’08 stickers, Bree, Neeko and Thunder helped campaign for the Democratic presidential candidate on Saturday. Lynchburg News & Advance reporter Dave Thompson and photographer Kim Raff captured the scene as three Sweet Briar College Young Democrats canvassed Amherst neighborhoods on horseback to rally votes for Barack Obama in the upcoming election.

Lucy Hankinson’s, Lindsay Mills’ and Lindsay Eneguess’ rides attracted pleasantly surprised responses from supporters of both Obama and his Republican opponent John McCain, according to the News & Advance.

The three Sweet Briar students were part of a larger volunteer group who, with support from members of Amherst County Democrats, also went door-to-door — albeit arriving there by foot, car or bicycle.
