Mel Rosenthal, a photographer and artist-in-residence at the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, will speak at 4 p.m. Monday, Jan. 28 in Tyson Auditorium at Sweet Briar College. The lecture is free and open to the public.
During the talk — “Giving Something Back: The Photographs of Mel Rosenthal from the South Bronx to South America” — Rosenthal will discuss his photographs and his social and political engagement in New York City among immigrant populations, in Cuba and in other Latin American countries.
Many of Rosenthal’s photographs can be viewed at his Web site.
The lecture is sponsored by the College’s anthropology department and is a continuation of that department’s current focus on visual media, ethnographic photography and ethnographic film.
