Five retired members of the Sweet Briar College faculty were awarded emeritus status by the SBC board of directors at their November meeting. They are William Hostetler, Allen Huszti, Dominique Leveau, Susan Piepho and Mike Richards.
Hostetler was an associate professor of economics and director of the business management program. He served on the faculty from 1989 to 2006. He earned a Ph.D. in business from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Huszti was a professor of music. He served from 1972 to 2006 and has a master’s in music from Boston’s New England Conservatory of Music.
Leveau was a professor of French and served from 1978 to 2006. He has a Ph.D. from the Graduate Center, University of New York.
Piepho was a professor of chemistry. She served from 1971 to 2007 and has a Ph.D. in physical chemistry from the University of Virginia.
Mike Richards was a professor of history. He served from 1966 to 2004 and has a Ph.D. from Duke University.
To be considered for emeritus status, a faculty member must meet the following criteria: they must have retired; served the College as a full-time faculty member for 15 years or more, and they must hold the appropriate terminal degree in their field.
